We came into the game knowing that we could no longer advance to the next round but we came in like we had something to prove. We were sure that Lake Zurich thought they were going to run all over us, well they didn't. Everyone watching our game was surely not thinking that we could keep up with them but we did. Lake Zurich opened up the goal and the only goal of the match, early in the first half, with a quite impressive header off a set piece. After this the game was fought hard and each team was trying to score a goal. Lake Zurich's number 14, a top player in state last year, was shut down completely and was taken out of the game. He couldn't get around our defense and I think this bothered him. Although we lost in the end with a score of 1-0, it didn't matter to us. What mattered was that we won in our own way. We were proud that we made them work hard to beat us, harder then they did against the other two teams in our bracket and everyone saw it. If we would have finished more shots, we would be the ones advancing but what's done is done. Our Pepsi Showdown run is now over but now we look forward to working hard in practice and coming out on top in our Dupage Valley Conference.
